Four AI assistants, four different answers

Agentcites asks your buyer questions to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and DeepSeek. Each uses its own model and search, so their answers differ. You see every answer, and which brands and sources each one named.

Same question, different answers

Buyer questionWhat is the best tool for scheduling social media posts across several platforms?

Being named by one assistant says nothing about the others, so every question goes to each one you choose. You can switch any off. An assistant that fails on a question loses that one answer, and the rest of the scan carries on.

How Agentcites asks each assistant

  1. 01

    You approve the questions

Agentcites writes questions from your site. You check and change them before anything is sent.

  2. 02

    Sent without steering

Each question goes out as written. We add no brand name, no instruction and no hint about the answer we hope for.

  3. 03

    Answered with its configured search

Each assistant answers through its provider’s API, with the search set for it: its own for three of them, and Exa’s index for DeepSeek.

  4. 04

    Kept with its model

Every answer is stored word for word with its links, and the model and search behind it are recorded, so a change between scans can be checked against a change of model.

Answers come from each provider’s API, not the app a person signs into. The app can add history, location or instructions of its own, so a buyer may see a different answer.

How search and website access differ

ChatGPT

OAI-SearchBot is the crawler OpenAI uses for ChatGPT search. GPTBot is a separate crawler for training, set separately.

Perplexity

PerplexityBot is the crawler Perplexity uses for its search. Perplexity says it is not used to train AI models.

Gemini

Googlebot crawls for Google Search, which Gemini answers from. Google-Extended is a separate control that Google says does not affect Search.

DeepSeek + Exa search

The search here is Exa’s index. We have not found a crawler name for it in Exa’s documentation.

Letting a crawler read your site does not guarantee that an assistant will find, cite or recommend it. Each assistant's page quotes the provider's own documentation, and AI crawler access shows how a scan checks yours.

What Agentcites does not track yet

Agentcites does not include Google AI Overviews or Claude today. Coverage is the four assistants above, with the search each one is given here.
